GNU General Public License​

GNU Make, BusyBox and libgcc are the build tools MD Engine invokes to compile a project, on every target. They are separate programs run as their own processes. They are not linked into the editor, nor into any game it produces, so they are aggregated with MD Engine rather than forming part of it.

libgcc here is the host runtime that GNU Make itself needs to run on Windows. It is not a compiler, and it is unrelated to the toolchain a project is built with: Mega Drive projects are compiled by SGDK's m68k GCC, while the other engines use LLVM.

They are distributed under:

  • GNU GPL version 2: BusyBox
  • GNU GPL version 3: GNU Make
  • GNU GPL version 3 with the GCC Runtime Library Exception 3.1: libgcc

The full licence texts ship with the application under buildTools/shared/LICENSES/, together with a manifest naming the exact version, upstream source URL and SHA256 of every binary included.

You are entitled to the complete corresponding source for these programs for at least three years from the date you received MD Engine. The upstream sources are:
